Abstract

This study investigates the usefulness of a multi-staged discrete simulation model in combination with an interactive cost model for the development of systems parameters in a naval weapons logistic system environment. The model involves operations at a variety of decision levels and physical stages over the life time of the system. In this initial examination, the content of the storages (pipeline, cycle and safety stocks), the character of the related queues and the level of fulfillment of operational (combat and exercise) needs are the basis for determining the performance rating of the system over its life cycle. Manipulation of storage capacities allows the selection of a “best” system.
