Several studies have compared the prediction accuracyof different types of techniques with emphasis placed onlinear and stepwise regressions, and Case-basedReasoning (CBR). We believe the use of only one type ofCBR technique may bias the results, as there are othersthat may also be used for effort prediction. This paper has two objectives. The first is to comparethe prediction accuracy of three CBR techniques toestimate the effort to develop Web hypermediaapplications. The second objective therefore, is tocompare the prediction accuracy of the best CBRtechnique, according to our findings, against threecommonly used prediction models, namely multiple linearregression, stepwise regression and regression trees. One dataset was used in the estimation process and theresults showed that different measures of predictionaccuracy gave different results. MMRE and MdMREshowed better prediction accuracy for Multiple regressionmodels whereas boxplots showed better accuracy forCBR.
