In this paper, we present a new programming modeltargeted to collaborative business process integrationapplications. This model is based on the object-orientedtechnology, but elevates the programming model to covera new breed of business applications that are currentlyevolving. These applications are differentiated by theirstrong emphasis on "collaborations" in which a set of"collaborators" works together to attain businessobjectives, and on integration where new functionality isderived by integrating legacy systems with newcomponents and applications. We propose two newmodeling artifacts, ADoc (Adaptive Document) andCollaboration, to model this class of applications. Wepresent an in depth analysis of this programming model. We conclude by discussing our experience in using thismodel in real world applications.
