Abstract

System software for future computing environments becomesmore complex and heterogeneous. Portability becomesone of the important properties of the future systemsoftware. Component-based systems contribute the portabilityissues. However, component behaviors cause dependenciesamong components and thus prevent consistent systemcompositions. We have built a component-based Javavirtual machine and tried three configurations with componentsin order to investigate the inter-component dependenciesand the effect of the component behaviors. Also, thispaper proposes requirements for a component frameworkfor future ubiquitous computing.
