In this paper, we present novel software architectureproviding the connected multimedia services throughnetworked embedded systems. The connected multimediaservice means that a multimedia session is preservedeven though an end-user moves from one computingenvironment to others. For getting the immediatemultimedia services, all that he has to do is to carry asmall mobile pad, such as PDA or Cellular phone, whichshows a list of devices that he can use as I/O devices ofthe on-going multimedia session. He does not have to re-setupthe session. When he clicks and selects the properdevices among the devices listed on the pad, the sessionis immediately migrated to the selected device. We, inthis paper, present our novel mechanism using well-developedand commercialized protocols such as SIP andX.10 to support this new paradigm of ubiquitousmultimedia services.
