Interactive systems are complex and often difficult to use. Their complex design therefore presents ideal, and worthwhile, material for visualizing. Some of the generic ways of visualizing interaction, and some of the pitfalls, are illustrated using simple techniques applied to real examples. One problem with interactive devices, particularly in the consumer market, is rapid obsolescence: we show that this can be visualized as a performance over time graph, and that doing so provides further insight into the design process and its problems.
