Two separate reuse initiatives exist in industry -knowledge management and software reuse. Within the communities of these initiatives there seems to be little awareness of the other initiative. In IBM there has been an effort to leverage the value of knowledge management and software reuse across the communities and improve integration of the efforts. The lessons learned were not what either community expected.
