A number of computer tools have been introduced toovercome the difficulties in traditional softwareinspection. Actual inspection tools are rarely used, however, as the current tool implementations have somecritical inadequacies. This paper briefly summarizes the evolution ofcomputer-supported software inspection and outlines theconcept of virtual software inspection, which introducestwo important aspects: flexibility and integration of thetools. Paying attention to these dimensions could result inmore attractive and comprehensive tools for inspectioncollaboration.
