Abstract

The rapid growth in development of agent-based systems has led to concerns about how humans will control the activities of collaborating teams of software agents. We believe that practical multi-agent systems will often consist of small teams of heterogeneous agents, under supervision by users. We are now developing an environment for investigating mixed-initiative approaches to user control and coordination of heterogeneous agent teams. In this paper, we discuss our approach to mixed-initiative agent team management, some representational issues involved in identifying compatible agent team members and the capabilities needed to monitor team execution.
