Abstract

This paper describes the development of several methodsfor the dynamic measurement of error distribution forpositioning systems. When a user moves along a path at anunknown speed, it is no longer feasible to calculate the distancebetween the measured and real positions. We outlinethree applications using different positioning systems andapply our methods to the evaluation of the performance ofthese systems. Two indoor ultrasonic positioning systemsare described and compared with the use of the GPS systemoutdoors. Alternative options for the placement of sensors/antenna on the human body are evaluated.
