Abstract

The business environment needs to be watched constantly. More importantly, meanings of the trends and events recognized need to be understood in specific business context and their impacts on business operation be awared. The quality of environmental scanning in terms of objective-related and evaluated data is usually a more problematic issue than the quantity of information. In this paper we explore the use of intelligent software agents in monitoring and interpreting the accumulated environmental data. We examine the notion of interpretation and its process. We discuss the agent''s role in data interpretation, analyze tasks for the interpreting agent and present the agent design.
