In an action research study at the Amsterdam MunicipalPolice Force, we critically evaluate the combined use ofGroup Support Systems, joint modeling facilities, andanimation techniques to support subject matter expert (SME)involvement in organizational change processes. The SMEsinvolved in the study jointly constructed and evaluated staticand dynamic models of the police force's current and futurestructure and processes. Our findings illustrate the potentialof the above facilities used to support SME involvement interms of efficiency, resulting model quality, and SMEsatisfaction with process and technologies. Issues for furtherresearch include group modeling strategies, techniques, andgroup size, as well as automatic animation generation.
