Abstract

The researcher embarked on a longitudinal case studyof Caterpillar, Inc. (located in Peoria, IL) to explore the drivers behind successful Business ProcessReengineering (BPR). Caterpillar believes thatpositive business outcomes can be directly tied toadherence to a systematic BPR methodology andcreativity training. The methodology Caterpillar usesis called Business Process Simplification andImprovement (BPS/Y). The case examines the linkbetween the BPS/I methodology and Couger 's variantmodel to identify creative opportunities for theorganization.
