Abstract

A number of new technologies aimed atautomating office work has been developed overthe last 20 years with seemingly little impact onoverall office productivity. We propose aconceptual model for technology adaptation forbusiness process automation that stresses bothtechnology-organization fit and technologyprocessfit. The goal of our study is to develop asystematic approach that addresses the needs forthe organization to be adaptive and for work to beflexible. The technology adaptation model wedevelop is useful for technology providers in theworkflow management area and for businessmanagers who wish to take advantage of the newwork-related technologies.
