Abstract

This paper describes a visualisation tool, VlUM,designed to support users in scrutinising modelsof their interests, preferences and knowledge.We also describe MECUREO, a tool forbuilding lightweight ontologies from onlinedictionaries. It enables a user to see a modeldescribing both their interests and additionalontologically inferred interests. We report asmall qualitative evaluation of this combinedsystem. This indicates that users were able touse the system to explore models of twohypothetical users, making use of varying levelsof ontological inference.
