Abstract

Web Services define a new paradigm in present-daycollaborative application development in enterprises, andspan systems, networks, and organizations. Emergingcomputing infrastructures provide direct support for WebServices technologies. A characteristic feature of thecurrent efforts in the direction of Web Services is theinclination towards providing rich and sophisticated toolsfor leveraging Web Services functionality. Though thisaids one in collaborative application "development"using Web Services, from the point of view of application"design", it leaves much to be desired, when oneconsiders closing in of the legendary "Semantic Gap"between a collaborative enterprise application and theinfrastructure support. In this paper, we proposeDEVISE; a methodology for building Web Services basedinfrastructure for collaborative enterprises, comprisingapplications designed as a collection of Web Services anda Computer Human Interface.
