Abstract

The paper describes how we created and adopted anagile product development process in a small softwarecompany based on the Cycles of Control framework bycombining selected agile practices and principles fromthe Scrum and XP methodologies. Describing thedevelopment process using the framework helped inidentifying the crucial control points between businessand development and enabled defining practical andwell-functioning connections between them. The controlpoints enable visibility and flexible management ofproduct development status and direction. CurrentlyBusiness understands development status better, whichhas led to fewer interruptions between the control points, and thus improved working conditions for Development.Positive experiences are reported of newly adoptedpractices such as scrum meetings, pair programming, andunit testing. However, finding and adopting technicaltools to facilitate the process proved to be challenging.
