In this article we examine the integration three emergingtrends in Information Technology (Utility Computing,Grid Computing, and Web Services) new Computingparadigm (Grid-based Application Service Provision)that is taking place in the context the European researchproject GRASP. In the first of the paper, we explain howthe integration of emerging trends can supportenterprises in creating competitive advantage. In thesecond part, we focus on Grid-based Application ServiceProvision (GRASP), which builds a new technology-drivenbusiness paradigm on top of such integration. Weconclude by outlining plan for prototyping a GRASPplatform in the context an ongoing European researchproject
