Abstract

Measures represent important data in all engineeringdisciplines. This data allows engineers to understand howthings work and how to make changes to produce desiredresults. In software engineering, it is difficult to collectuseful measures because developers do not consider it animportant activity, compared to coding. Moreover, manual collected data is often affected by errors, makingit unusable. The shortage of automated tools for collecting andanalyzing measures does not contribute to the evolutionof software engineering. This paper presents PROM (PRO Metrics), anautomated tool for collecting and analyzing softwaremetrics as well as personal software process (PSP) data. The tool uses an architecture based on plug-ins thatautomatically collects data from development tools.
