Acquisition of software intensive systems demandssignificant work on requirements prior to establishing thecontract. The acquirer needs to understand the domain, needs, and constraints of the project clearly in order tomake realistic size and effort estimates, and to have a solidfoundation for defining contract requirements. In thisstudy, an approach for requirements elicitation based onbusiness processes is investigated. The approach proposesdetermination of requirements of a software intensivesystem to be acquired, according to the businessobjectives and base lining business processes. This studypresents the implementation of the approach in a largeinnovative military application within the boundary of aproject for Request for Proposal (RFP) preparation.
