An active contour method is presented and applied to robust iristracking. The main strength of the method is that the contour modelavoids explicit "feature" detection: contour sare simply assumed toremove statistical dependencies on opposite sides of the contour. The contour model is utilizedin particle filtering together withthe EM algorithm. The method shows robustness to light changes andcamera defocusing, and makes it possible to use off-the-shelfhardware for gaze-based interaction
