We address the problem of segmenting a sequence of imagesof natural scenes into disjoint regions that are characterizedby constant spatio-temporal statistics. We model thespatio-temporal dynamics in each region by Gauss-Markovmodels, and infer the model parameters as well as theboundary of the regions in a variational optimization framework.Numerical results demonstrate that - in contrast topurely texture-based segmentation schemes - our method iseffective in segmenting regions that differ in their dynamicseven when spatial statistics are identical.
