Abstract

UMTS is expected to allow the users to collaborateand participate to a common live activity through theirmobile multimedia terminal equipment. Users andoperators are looking forward the development of newinteractive and collaborative applications such asinteractive games on mobile phones. We develop anapproach and a model to tackle technological locks andoffer the opportunity to operators to provide their userswith applications where they participate to a common liveactivity. This paper presents our Collaborative Model forWireless Adaptive and Reconfigurable Environments(COMWARE) and its implementation architecture whichaims to provide UMTS users a QoS support forcollaborative applications. This model aims to reconcileopenness and QoS requirements for collaborativerelationships using wireless multimedia systems. Forinteractive collaborative applications, logicalrequirements should ensure synchronization between thedisplayed scenes of the same scenario on a set of UMTSequipment and the management of precedency to dealwith interaction applications such for interactive games.COMWARE integrates QoS provision and management.
