Context-aware computing systems demand an accurateand up-to-date world model which computationally representsthe environment they oversee. Systems to date tend tohave small-scale implementations with hand-programmedworld models. In real environments, manual creation and maintenanceof such models is infeasible. This paper presents a novelmethod of using signals propagating in a multilaterationpositioning system to assist in creating and maintainingmodels of a dynamic world. It builds on a previous methodfor discovering objects in static environments. The methods are implemented and evaluated using areal positioning system. They are shown to build three-dimensionaloccupancy grids of indoor volumes, and havethe capability of modifying those grids as time proceeds andthe environment is reconfigured.
