In this paper we describe our efforts to fostereducational interoperability in scenarios using mobileand wireless technologies to support hands-on scientificexperimentation and learning. A special focus is given tothe idea that innovative uses of mobile and wirelesstechnologies enhance the learners' scientific experience.Specific contributions include the creation of newapplications to support interoperability betweendifferent mobile devices, thus to provide "glue" betweendifferent learning situations. We describe a number ofeducational scenarios as well as the technologies andthe architectural principles behind them.
