This paper addresses the speed problem in human face image retrieval system from large database. A novel method based on wavelet transform and principal component analysis (PCA) is developed and presented. The computational load of the proposed method is greatly reduced as comparing with the original PCA based method. Moreover, the accuracy of the proposed method is improved.
