Abstract

Internet Mobile users require special support to maintain connectivity as they change point-of attachment. The mobility management used should keep providing good performance to mobile users and keep network load as low as possible as the network grows and the number of mobile nodes increases. To reduce this load, Mobile IP regional registration is used. In this paper, a dynamic regional mobility management architecture is presented. We aim to minimize signaling and packet delivery cost while keeping an optimal number of access routers (AR) in the region. We iteratively find the optimal value, given the average registration and packet delivery cost. Analytical results are obtained to show the performance of this scheme.
