People who collaborate via mobile ad hoc networks (MANETS) in emergency situations would benefit from software support for their collaboration. Such a coordination layer typically requires continuous connections among devices (for example, for data and information sharing, and activity scheduling and coordination). However, continuous connections generally aren't guaranteed in MANETs. To help deal with this problem, a new approach predicts possible disconnections of devices, so that the coordination layer can appropriately address connection anomalies and maintain network connections. Such a prediction layer can form the basis for a pervasive architecture.
