Abstract

Tasks running in computational Grids may require simultaneous access to multiple resources. To ensure QoS of applications, tasks commonly make resource reservation in advance. Thus, it is necessary for tasks which require multiple resources to make resource co-reservation in advance. This paper gives general models for resources shared in computational Grids and parallel tasks running in computational Grids. A general resource co-reservation model is also proposed. We argue that the resource co-reservation model can improve the performance of resource co-reservation for parallel tasks while keeping the autonomy of resources. Based on these models, resource co-reservation heuristics are presented and their performance is analyzed.
