In this extended abstract I describe the doctoral research project "Designing for Social Interaction". The research project is undertaken in the multidisciplinary context of The Interactive Spaces Research Centre and carried out in three different projects where industrial partners have collaborated on developing social use environments and interfaces. The outcome of the project is one or more conceptual frameworks that will enable designers to better describe and design technologies supporting social interactio.
