Abstract

Understanding the effects of any change in the parameters of the various functional components in a wireless multimedia streaming chain is an absolute prerequisite for making good decisions towards efficient and effective end-to-end resource management and control. This paper focuses on the behavior evaluation with respect to processing resource consumption of the decoding functional component in a battery-operated wireless device. CPU cycle accurate measurements are provided along with the first order models, which capture the influence of selected encoding parameters to the decoder's resource consumption
