Abstract

This paper describes a new computer science major at a small liberal arts college. This major emphasizes the theory and practice of software design and includes a two-semester research/capstone course. Given the historically cyclic demand for computer science, the curriculum has been designed to minimize the number of full-time faculty needed to support the program. The rationale for the curriculum decisions made and the challenges that lie ahead are discussed.
