Traditional capital budgeting models price only systemic risk. However, insurers and banks seek to manage their total risk. With the help of modern information systems and information technology, bankers and insurers are able to get timely information on the risk exposures of their multiple lines of business. This paper presents the framework of a Web-Based Decision Support System (WBDSS) and illustrates how the proposed system may effectively support the use, in a firm's risk management IT infrastructure, of models that price total risk. Expectation pricing model is used as an example to show how the proposed system may help insurers and banks to perform total risk management.
