In this paper, we introduce the notion of Thompson weightedautomaton. We show that an µ-free automaton constructed fromthe Thompson weighted automaton for a regular weighted expression Ecan be computed in quadratic time on the size of E. Moreover thecoefficient of a word u in the noncommutative formal seriesassociated to E, can be computed in time O(|u| × |E|).
