Over the years it has been pointed out that an important skill for computer science majors is the ability to communicate effectively [1, 3, 9]. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, computer science students often never acquire these skills [4]. This paper (a) considers some of the reasons why students do not acquire these skills, (b) reviews some approaches that have been proposed to remedy this situation, (c) presents an argument for defining what these skills are in a more comprehensive manner, and (d) describes how these communication skills can be integrated into a computer science curriculum.
