Abstract

Females make up a disproportionate population of the computer science field. Outreach and curricula are needed to attract and retain females in computing. This paper describes three hands-on activities that were used to introduce middle school girls to computer science. The results indicate an increased perception of computer science and high ratings of each of the activities.
