Presently, one of the most important challenges in securing communications between resource-constrained mobile systems is the optimization of the trade-off between energy and performance of security services. Any adopted security solution should be able to negotiate the best security services in a dynamic and energy efficient way. In this paper, we propose an energy-aware adaptive protocol to negotiate security settings for communications. The protocol is based on a multi-criteria selection mechanism which provides the most profitable services related to nodes requirements and available resources.
