Projecting 3D models into two-dimensional image representations is very easy, but reconstructing 3D models out of multiple two-dimensional projections/images is more sophisticated. We will present an automatic system that utilizes technical drawings of marine ships to reconstruct a 3D model of the ship. The system is designed as a universal process that can handle multiple images of different kinds or other projections in a generic fashion, but with the need of additional user input. Nevertheless using only technical drawings from predefined rectangular views overcome the need of user interaction and lead to a rough 3D model that can be used in other applications.
