Conflict analysis and resolution play an important role in business, governmental, political and lawsuit disputes, labor-management negotiations, military operations and others. Many mathematical models of conflict situations have been proposed and investigated. In this paper a novel approach to conflict analysis, based on rough set theory, is outlined. Basic concepts of this approach are defined and analyzed. An illustration of the introduced concepts by the Middle East conflict is presented.
