Abstract

This paper shows how residual sinks can be used for bond graph model based fault detection. These elements couple a reference model of a process engineering system to a bond graph model of the faulty system and enable to use integral causality as the preferred computational causality in both models. It is assumed that two faults do not occur simultaneously. The underlying mathematical model is a Differential Algebraic Equations (DAE) system. The approach is illustrated by means of the often used example of a hydraulic two tank system.
