The economic crisis and its consequences require new solutions for the media industry, especially Internet-oriented solutions. This paper presents models of implementation of the social media by the Romanian media companies as a strategic objective for their journalistic products. The paper focuses on the manner and solutions chosen by the media companies for the implementation of the social media and the user generated content with the purpose to draw an online audience. The management methods and practices have evolved differently through the implementation of the new media platforms; in this way the solutions picked up by the Romanian media companies are different. This paper gives a perspective on the implementation of social media in the media companies.
