Abstract

The use of expert systems (ES) technology may lead a firm to major strategic advantages. However, in order to reap these advantages, a firm has to select projects which are appropriate and cost-effective for ES technology. This paper illustrates a method, based on the value chain concept, through which a firm may systematically assess potential ES applications. The application of this method in a real estate brokerage business is presented. A complete ES prototype is then described.
