This paper presents a brief account of the development of the SMART-HexBot, a novel Simulation, Modeling, Analysis and Research Tool for Hexapod Robot in Virtual Reality and Simulink® for assisting the mechanical system as well as the control system design and validation of a hexapod robot. The elegant and user-friendly features of Simulink, SimMechanics, Stateflow, and Virtual reality toolbox of Matlab® have rendered the SMART-HexBot simulation tool a useful and effective means for the design and validation of the kinematic and dynamics of the mechanism and locomotion control of hexapod walking robot. Effectiveness of the SMART-HexBot has been established by simulation results.
