Abstract

Networked control system NCS is an emerging theme that requires the concurrence of proper tools for representation, analysis and synthesis of controlled feedback systems, aiming at reducing the existing gap between the theoretical achievement and practical applications of NCS. Given that only a few review papers on NCS delays have been published, the objective of this paper is to provide a better understanding of the existing tools for application to real NCSs with random delays. This paper presents a survey on some relevant contributions published in the literature and discusses real application limitations, with emphasis on the varying delay issues. It is highlighted the importance of considering somehow, in the analysis and synthesis tools, the effects of delays statistics and the probability of uncertain events present in real NCS occur or not.
