Mechatronics is a rapidly growing field that requiresapplication specific hardware/software solutions for complexinformation processing at very low power and area consumption, and cost. Rapid prototyping is a proven method to check a designagainst its requirements during early design phases and thusshorten the overall design cycle. Rapid Prototyping of real-timeinformation processing units in mechatronics applications requirescode generation and hardware synthesis tools for a fast and efficientsearch in the design space. In this paper we present a rapidprototyping environment that supports the designer of applicationspecific embedded controllers during the requirement‘s validationphase.
