Realistic images of natural surfaces are often generated using computationally expensive stochastic modeling techniques. A parallel procedure to generate such models is presented. The target machines are general-purpose mesh-connected computers. The complexity of the procedure is similar to that of a proposed special-purpose parallel fractal generator.
