Participatory Design has mainly been practiced inEurope and North America. Our seven-year experiencein Nigeria suggests that user participation is also amust in developing countries. However, the scope ofparticipation needs to be expanded. For instance, inhealth informatics the communities served by thehealth facility in question need to be involved alongwith computer professionals and health providers. This paper presents the results of an experiment intripartite partnership in systems design for PrimaryHealth Care by designers, users/providers, andcommunity representatives in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Theexperience was extremely encouraging.
