The Futures Lab was founded in Argonne National Laboratory's Mathematics and Computer Science Division in the fall of 1994. The lab's goal is to develop new technology and systems to support collaborative science. To meet this goal, the lab is organized around three research areas: multimedia, virtual environments, and advanced networking.
