Abstract

In this paper we present a new extended space leaping method which allows the drastic speed up and the efficient load balancing by performing skipping processes not only in data space domain but also in screen space domain, and based on the method, present a fast and well balanced parallel ray casting algorithm. We propose a novel forward projection technique for computing information on skipping processes in both domains very fast by combining run-length encoding and line drawing algorithm, and shall show that it can be implemented in parallel with ease and efficiency by the proper distribution of the encoded data while the information produced from the technique being exploited to provide the load balancing. Also, we implemented our algorithms on PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine), and show our experimental result.
