Abstract

Identity verification becomes a challenging task wizen it has to be automated with high accuracy and nonrepudiability. Existing automatic verification methods such as passwords and credit cards are vulnerable to misuse and fraud. Automated biometrics-based attthentication methods soh, e these problems by providing a strong guarantee of the user's identity: In this tutorial, we present an overview of the fast-developing and excithzg area of automated biometrics. Several popular biometrics including fingerprint, face and iris are reviewed, and an introduction to accuracy evaluation methods is presented.
